When Jayden was a newborn, we had very little need for a baby monitor. We co-slept, I wore him quite often (even during naps), and we lived in a small ranch style home. I also knew when he was waking up or in need of something. Now, we live in a two-story home, with a curious preschooler, so having a baby monitor for the new baby will definitely be helpful.
VTech sent us their new Safe & Sound Video Monitor and I’m impressed. The Safe & Sound isn’t your average baby monitor. It does exactly what we need it to do, plus more and it’s simple to set up and use. The Safe & Sound allows parents to monitor baby in full motion and high resolution color through the LCD of the lightweight parent unit. Using the parent unit, parents can zoom in and out, and even talk to baby from the built-in intercom. The video camera (powered by AC and batteries) has an adjustable camera angle, can be mounted to the wall or tripod, has a temperature sensor, and plays 5 different lullabies. The Safe & Sound features a vibrating sound alert as to not startle during night time. For families with more than one child to monitor, the Safe & Sound is also expandable up to 4 cameras (sold separately).
I actually wish we had the Safe & Sound when Jayden was battling the worst of his Eczema. He would wake up itching every.single.night. and we would always make sure his room was cool enough to keep from irritating his skin. The Safe & Sound would have alerted us at first itch and temperature change. I am so glad that we’ll be using the Safe & Sound for the new baby. It is an ingenious and intuitive device that takes baby monitors to a whole other level.
The VTech Safe & Sound Video Monitor retails for $129.95 (aff) and can be found at Amazon.com.
