she {hearts} ramble & roost

Ramble & Roost is a handmade, fine-art shop that I stumbled upon while searching for a unique piece to top off our schoolroom.  We have a map wall in our room and I wanted to continue the rustic, world theme with the entire room.  You can imagine how excited I was when I saw the string art in Ramble & Roost.  I was lucky enough to receive a custom piece of string art representing my home state on pieces of reclaimed wood.  The owner, Lauren, even put a sweet heart over a location that is special to me.

The great thing about Ramble & Roost is the option to totally customize your piece.  Maybe you have a wedding coming up and want a one-of-a-kind gift for the special couple… Ramble and Roost can make a custom piece with the couples’ initials!  Maybe you have a baby shower… Ramble and Roost can create a piece to hang in the baby’s room.  The possibilities are endless!

As if the string art weren’t enough, Ramble & Roost also offers custom tumblers for all your iced coffee and lemon water needs, as well as photo transfers!

She {hearts} Julian Ryce Creations

One of my favorite things are monograms. A monogram is a motif made by overlapping or combining two or more letters or other graphemes to form one symbol. I own many things that have my monogram on them, from key chains to clothes, scarves, jewelry and even household items such as drinking glasses.

One day I was browsing Etsy for some monogrammed frames as I was thinking of ideas for a baby gift. I came across Julian Ryce Creations and loved pretty much everything in her shop. Recently, I received one of her precious frames & I immediately put a recent photo of my daughter in it!

She has many fun and beautiful things in her shop in addition to frames. Things like custom phone cases, notecards, melamine plates & platters, cutting boards, license plates, cookie jars, and SO much more!

There are so many different combinations of designs/patterns/colors to choose from when shopping with Julian Ryce Creations. For my particular frame I chose the pink and white chevron stripes.

These frames would make the cutest baby or wedding gifts or would even be great to give as Christmas presents! Julian Ryce Creations has many other items that can be personalized too. Go check out her plates, platters, plaques, baskets, magnets & much more! You can view her Etsy site or her Facebook site!

She {hearts} French Press Mornings

I am so drawn to amazing design with an encouraging, meaningful message. I want those messages to fill the walls of my home and the designs created by French Press Mornings couldn’t fit more perfectly with my decor and style.

I purchased the Luke 6:45 Floral print for my baby girl’s (so close to being finished, now that she’s almost 6 months old!) nursery. I love the message and the design perfectly complements the vintage, whimsical feel of the room. I hope my baby girl is always encouraged by this verse, and it will be a print that will adorn the walls of her room for years to come.

Another favorite French Press Mornings print of mine is the Matthew 6:33 print. I ordered the large size to hang in our front entryway.

Jenny, the sweet-souled designer behind the French Press Mornings shop, also blogs at French Press Mornings. She writes about faith, family, and her incredible (my words, not hers!) eye for design. She obviously has the biggest heart and talent. In her shop, she not only offers her poster prints but also custom baby announcements, custom blog design, and custom poster prints. Next on my shopping list is the Rise and Shine & Sleep Tight print set for my son’s room. Adorable and so stylish.

For gorgeous wall art, custom announcements, or custom blog design services, Jenny from French Press Mornings is the one to turn to. She is so incredibly talented and will work with you to produce just what you are looking for. You can also find Jenny blogging, and on Facebook and Twitter.

She {hearts} Creating Frugal Home Decor

new_0456Being frugal doesn’t exactly make decorating easy, but it can be very rewarding. It just takes some creativity and time.

before_0748

I’ve known I wanted new bedding for a couple years now, but I never came across anything I loved more than what I already had. Recently though, we took the plunge and purchased a king size mattress/box springs {still saving for the bed frame} but for now, it’s just fine on the floor. So, I had to get new bedding.

after_0446

I’ve always loved white. It’s a happy clean color. I thought maybe if it’s in the bedroom {and not even remotely close to where the kids eat} we’ll be okay. So far, so good.

 1. my DIY revamped lamps here

2. pillow covers made out of plain white pillow cases using the envelope technique {super easy} here

  • for the leather details on the pillows, I used re-purposed leather {old skirt, thrifted}
  • glued black velcro on the leather, then cut out triangles, and found a ‘stache {clip art} online to use as a stencil
  • sewed the white {opposite} velcro on the pillow, this way, I can wash {and bleach} the pillow cases when needed
  • they don’t look bright white because I covered some dark blue pillows I already had {for now; eventually I’ll get some white pillows… IKEA isn’t as close as it used to be, sigh}

3. coffee filter wreath via none other than Martha Stewart here

4. old used canvas found at thrift store {may have been a painting of a sunset}

  • I painted over it {sorry, artist that painted it back in the 80′s, it was time}
  • then hubby spray painted the numbers/letter using black spray paint, and number stencils found at hardware store {of course your numbers will mean something to you}

5. old frame/chicken wire, stapled on back

I’m sure I’ll get tired of my hipster pillows and add something different to them before too long, but for now I love them!

She {hearts} Spring Bathroom Sprucing With Target Threshold

threshold

Can you believe that tomorrow will mark the first day of Spring? Ahhh, how I love the season. Spring sparks my curiosity and inspires me in so many ways. Spring usually sends me on a decorating/home improvement frenzy, so I always end up sprucing things up a little. To get things started this season, I recently redecorated our upstairs bath. When I started shopping around for accessories, I had no specific color scheme in mind. I just wanted something fresh and clean that would complement our pebble grey walls.

thresholdcollage

I found a floral shower curtain from Target’s new Threshold line. I loved the sketched look and aqua accents. I paired the shower curtain with an aqua toilet seat cover, bath mat, and plush towels all from the Threshold as well. I grabbed some circle hooks with aqua accents to complement the pieces. They were from another brand, but really helped bring everything together.

A bathroom sprucing, in my eyes, isn’t complete without bath toys, so I picked up a few toys for the boys. The spout cover added a fun element and accent to the decor. I am loving our fresh, new bathroom decor inspired by Threshold. Now that I’ve tackled the bathroom, I think I’ll focus on our bedroom next!

Now that Spring is in the air, how are you dressing up the season in your home?

{heart} It

It’s the right mix of classic and modern. An effortless elegance. Beautiful, yet affordable. Designed for a lifetime of housewarmings. It’s everything you’ll love about your home.

She {hearts} MiMi’s Soda Shoppe

A few years ago, a sweet friend of mine Aliesha, her mother Valerie, gifted me with one of the most precious gifts. She custom made me name matted prints, framed with my boys names in them. At the time she created them for my 1st three children. I loved them! I told her if we ever had any more kids she would have to make us more.

A few weeks before Reed was born, she sent me another….

_MG_1177
I loved seeing my baby’s name on the print… knowing that in a few short weeks I would be meeting him. It was a precious gift to get before he was born. I cannot wait to move into our new home and set up a wall with all my boys photographs framed and these prints proudly shining.

I love the effort she puts into making them but also how personal they are to us. With our prints I never even gave her scripture… she found pieces of scripture though that just went perfect with the meanings of each one of my boys names. I loved that!

If you are looking for a perfect keep sake for your children, this is it. Mimi’s Soda Shoppe like I mentioned above is owned by my friend Aliesha’s mom, Valerie. She not only home schooled all 3 of her children. She is also incredibly talented in so many areas and this is one of them. If you have a friend who is due to have a baby, this would be an amazing shower gift… and one that I know they will absolutely love.
