she {hearts} back to school preparation

back to school collage

Back-to-school planning and preparation is in full swing around here.  We have our schoolroom painted and ready to go!  That was a huge item I needed to check off of my list… whew!  Now I can breath a little.  We typically buy the kids a couple of new outfits to wear through out the year.  We never go overboard… they grow so fast and their clothes show wear from playing outside.  Even so, it is nice to have a few special pieces for them to wear when we are out and about and need to look pulled together.  That is where the Tea Collection comes into play.

With their new fall line featuring beautiful jewel tones and scenes from abroad, my kiddos have those “go-to” fashion-forward pieces.  I love the feel of Tea Collections clothing- both soft and very durable.  Round it off with super adorable boots, and we’re good to go!

Next item to check off my back-to-school list… supplies!  I love breaking open a new box of crayons or markers.  What back-to-school preparations are you entertaining?

She {hearts} SwimZip

Sun protection is super important to me, especially when it comes to my kids. My kids have acquired my exceptional paleness (you’re welcome, my dears) so it’s always a long, dramatic process to get them sunscreened up in the summertime. Sunburns and the potential long-term effects of too much sun exposure are painful, scary, and issues that should not be taken lightly.

SwimZip is a line of fashionable kids swimwear whose shirts zip up the front, making UV protection a “zip!” Their adorable SPF 50+ line keeps kids skin sun-safe and reduces the need for lots of chemical-laden sunscreen on their delicate, often sensitive skin. And, as every parent knows, it’s usually not a fun time having to wrangle a wriggling two year old and lather them up every few hours while they are having fun in the sun. Each SwimZip piece is made of quality stretch lycra/nylon, which blocks 99% of UVA and UVB rays and is chlorine resistant. This tagless line’s key feature is the full length front zipper, which makes for easy on, easy off (especially when wet!).

Betsy, the founder of SwimZip, was diagnosed with skin cancer at just 26 years old. She wanted to take her scary and traumatic experience and bring something good of it, and she saw it as a “chance to help others avoid my fate – and maybe even save lives.” Betsy says, “With the conviction that comes from knowing without a doubt that you are doing something right, I dove headfirst into the world of UPF sun protective clothing … and thus was born SwimZip.”

Betsy graciously sent me the Caribbean Dolphin front zip rash guard shirt for my oldest daughter to try out when we went on our beach vacation this past week. I love how the shirt opens and zips up the front of the body, eliminating the hassle of trying to fit a big-kid head through the usually small head hole of normal rash guard shirts. The material is light and comfortable, and kept my daughter cool yet protected those delicate shoulders with an SPF of 50+. Plus, how bright and fun is the design? And the hot pink definitely pleased my girly-girl.

The SwimZip sets are ADORABLE and so unique. My favorites are Grey Grey Go Away! and Ruffle Me Pretty.

SwimZip SPF 50+ kids swimwear is perfect for summertime swimming and outside play at the beach, at the pool, or in the backyard. These pieces give kids ultra sun protection while adding so much style with their unique designs and front zipper feature. SwimZip was born of a passion to protect kids from the harmful effects of too much sun exposure without using harsh chemicals and with ease and style in mind. You can also find SwimZip on Facebook and Twitter.

The company I am about to tell you all about, is genius. I was excited to learn about them months ago and got to work with them. Trying out one of their hand selected boxes for little Owen (age 2).

That company is Wittlebee.

IMG_2788How often in life are we in situations where we honestly can’t get out in shop for our children. May it be hectic work schedules, sickness, bed rest due to a hard pregnancy or you may even be a single dad who just has no idea what to dress your kids in :) – there really are many situations where this service would be so handy.

Wittlebee‘s allows you to create a custom box through a short questionnaire on their website, that suits your kids style and size. You can choose the colors you love (or your kid loves), what items you really need more of and so on.

It was a lot of fun to do and we love the items they sent little Owen. The gym sweat shorts he has on in the photo are some of our most used shorts now. Perfect for him :) The shirt also has become one of our favorites. We also really love this gray and white striped shirt. It goes with so much.

She {hearts} Tea Bali Collection

009_5 I love clothing and decor inspired by different cultures, and Tea does a great job using the cultures of other countries to inspire their distinctive clothing collection. Besides being stylish, super soft, and slow-to-fade, I think the pieces from Tea are a great way to introduce children to diversity and traveling.

Tea handpicked a few items from their Bali collection and sent them our way for Jayden to wear. I, of course, was impressed by the collection and Jayden couldn’t wait to wear his new digs. The Sukawati Mask Tee looks great layered on top of the Long Sleeve Purity Tee.

I have a thing for tribal masks and the brown/teal color combo, so I loved seeing Jayden dressed in this duo. The Badak Hoodie was another fav. He wore it to the zoo over a burnt orange tee, khaki cords, and accessorized with a black crocheted kufi. The Padang Surf Tee will look awesome with cargo shorts, a beach necklace, and maybe a pair of shades.

1. Sukawati Mask Tee
2. Long Sleeve Purity Tee
3. Padang Surf Tee
4. Badak Hoodie

I love that I can dress up any basic pair of jeans, cords, or khaki’s with a shirt from Tea without much effort. I’m such a Tea fanatic and my boy wears it well :-).

PAIGELAUREN baby just launched their spring/summer 2012 collection, “the dream collection,” and I was able to try a couple of pieces on my new baby!

I love how super soft the fabric feels… it looks like it would be so comfortable to wear!  My baby girl sure seemed happy and content wearing her new tee and leggings.

She {hearts} Escapee Jays

One of our Christmas traditions in our family is getting new pajamas! I recently discovered some awesome pjs that I am so excited to share with you!

Escapee Jays are “escape-proof pajamas”… that is, they are uniquely designed to prevent your sweet baby from working their way out of their pajamas during the night (or first thing in the morning).  The pajamas have a back zipper, the top of which is covered by a tab of fabric, so they can’t unzip themselves. The sleeves and legs all fit snugly (as is appropriate for safe sleepwear) and they keep your toddler from pulling their arms inside to unfasten their diaper. The neck hole is also perfectly sized so it fits over your baby’s head but does not allow the child to pull it over their shoulder and escape.

In addition to all these great features, the pajamas come in cute colors of “jailbird stripes.” I love the lavender with pink trim, and so far we haven’t had any escapes or unfastened diapers! The pajamas fit true to size, but they are snug as safe child’s sleepwear should be.

These would be so fun to give as Christmas gifts… yet so practical at the same time!

You can purchase Escapee Jays here (girls) and here (boys) for $21.99. When you buy three pairs, you get Jay, the plush mascot, free!
