she {hearts} quail lane company

You know those shops that you simply fall in love with the moment you lay your eyes on them?  Well, that company is Quail Lane Co. I could drool over their adorable baby moccasins all day long!  I was so excited to try some of their moccs for Guinnyth and see if they were as functional as they were cute.  The answer… Yes, they are perfect for little feet!

Quail Lane Co. is run by two mommas who have created a product that is unique and affordable.  The moccs are handmade and it is easy to see they are fabulous quality.  I love the colors and styles Quail Lane offers its customers.  You have bows, fringe, bold colors, neutrals, metallics… all made with care and consideration.  I am so glad that Guinnyth will have these “Mermaid” moccs to waddle around in for the next year.

she {hearts} designs by romy

Have you ever been out and about with your little ones and a lovely gust of wind comes and knocks the blanket off of your infant?  You then proceed to try and catch the blanket without letting go of your big kids’ hands.  By the time you get to the door of the store you were wanting to peruse (probably Target, in my case), you have broken a sweat and your child’s blanket is now dirty and damp from the parking lot.  It is a delightful start to your relaxed shopping experience.

Designs by Romy is a sweet etsy shop that offers a solution to the above stated problem.  Romy’s carseat swaddles are soft, warm, and unable to be blown or kicked off.  I used one of Designs by Romy’s swaddles with my third child and hope to use one with my last baby due in this July.  Even when it was during the warm months, I loved that there was a nice layer to keep my baby cozy when we were in cold stores or restaurants. These blankets can even transition into a regular carseat and wrap up around an older baby’s arms and chest.  Since it isn’t safe to have a child in a five-point carseat harness with a coat on, I love that I can leave this blanket in the carseat and have something to wrap her up in without having to take her coat on and off.

Designs by Romy offers styles for boys, girls, and unisex for those who are waiting until the big day to find out what their little one is!!!  Romy uses a combination of fleece and flannel that makes this blanket perfect for warm and cold temperatures.  It is the perfect gift for a new momma.  I used my swaddle blanket for over a year with my 18 month old.  I can’t wait to pick a different style to use with our new baby coming this summer!

She {hearts} HappyDogBox

It’s not like they’re neglected. They get treats (a LOT of them.)

But you wouldn’t know it with her pitiful antics.

“Please mom. Please let me have a treat??”

Then her sister takes action by climbing on the table. Clearly I was taking too many pictures and ignoring their needs.

I wanted to say clever things about HappyDogBox but I think that these little Instagram videos I took speak loud enough.

The HappyDogBox arrives.

And Patches’ impatience: Beef Sticks for Breakfast.

Yes, indeed. The product lived up to its name–and then some!

she {hearts} cinnamon ornaments

My girls and I made these cinnamon ornaments this weekend.  The house smelled wonderful while they baked.  We will be tying them to gifts for our family and friends this year.

Start by gathering supplies:

3/4 cups applesauce

1 bottle ground cinnamon (about 4 ounces)

cookie cutters of your choice

1.  Start by mixing cinnamon and applesauce together till it forms a dough ball.  You might have to start with a spoon to mix, then get in there with your hands to continue to mix it up.

2. Take about 1/3 of the “dough” and roll out between 2 pieces of plastic wrap till about 1/4″ thickness.

3. Take off top plastic wrap and cut with your cookie cutters.

4. Use the straw to make the hole for the ribbon.

5. Carefully place on baking pan and bake for 2 1/2 hours on 200F.

6. Let them completely cool for 1-2 days then they are ready to be used for gifts!

She {hearts} Kiss My Face Suncare

Summer is in full swing which means the sun will be beating down on us on a daily basis (hopefully) and we will all be outside enjoying it! But don’t forget to protect the skin of those kiddos (and do’t forget yourself there to Mom!)

Kiss My Face has an entire line suncare products for the whole family. The Kids Mineral Sunscreen with SPF 30 is a thick, full coverage lotion that is paraben and phthalate free, with no artificial fragrances. I love how safe it is for my kids bodies and it certainly does the job by protecting their fair skin. My only complaint is it is almost TOO thick, and after some time in the pool you can see the white lotion on their skin. But if it keeps them covered, then I’m okay with that.

A good alternative to the Mineral Sunscreen that Kiss My Face makes is a Sun Spray Lotion. It has all the same great qualities of the Mineral Sunscreen, it is just easier to apply on to the kids. I just spray it on my hands and rub it in. Since it is a bit thinner, I can get it on the kids faces without having to work too hard, which in turn makes my life a little bit easier, and what mama doesn’t want that?!

She {hearts} Strawberry Pie

The kids and I picked strawberries last week and brought home four buckets of yummy goodness. I make this strawberry pie every summer, and this year was no exception. It is a cool, refreshing dessert to share with neighbors or just enjoy yourself!

  • Graham cracker crust
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 ½ cups chopped strawberries
  • 3 Tbps. cornstarch
  • 3 oz. package of strawberry jello
  1. Cook water, sugar, and cornstarch on high in microwave for 3 minutes. Stir well and cook for 2 more minutes. Stir quickly to make sure you get rid of all the lumps. (You can also do this on the stovetop. Just remove from heat as soon as the consistency is like that of pudding.)
  2. Add jello and strawberries, and stir well.
  3. Pour into pie crust.
  4. Chill until set.
  5. Top with Cool Whip and garnish with strawberry slices. Enjoy!
