She {hearts} Using Fabric to Inspire Digital Design

When designing a new look for my blog, I almost always turn to fabric for inspiration. Some of my blog designs have been inspired by shirts, dresses, and my latest – a clutch I purchased on Etsy. I turned to my clutch one day and thought, “Hmmm, I want to do something like this on my blog” and it felt right. I started off using the exact colors in the clutch and in true Sheena fashion, I got to tweaking and experimenting until I was satisfied. The final result was truly an inspiration and not a complete copy of the clutch. It’s one thing to design something vastly similar to an item (which is fine if legal), but I absolutely love seeing how people put their own twist on things that inspire them.

Today, I am design spotting with Dyson again and sharing my blog’s design inspiration with the Instagram community. What designs usually inspire your creativity? Where do you find your inspiration? I’d love to know!
