She {hearts} Origami Owl

I love when a product comes along that allows me to show off my “Mama” in a sophisticated and classy way. Long live the days of oversized buttons attached to purses and picture keychains that beam pride of your kiddos, and say hello to Origami Owl custom jewelry. Telling your story couldn’t be easier.

Both of my kids were born in March and obviously share a birthstone, Aquamarine. So when I began to build my locket I quickly decided on the March Heart Birthstone to be the center of attention in my locket. I also decided on 2 initials, one for the first letter on each of my child’s names. I chose the locket and chain that caught my eye, and even added on a dangle to give it a little more personality. Here’s my finished
piece, what do you think?

The wide variety of sports, hobbies, and causes makes it easy to create a Living Locket that just about anyone would love. Are you into photography? Do you love dogs? Are you a foodie? Do you have a cause that is near and dear to your heart? Origami Owl most certainly has something for you!

One piece I wish I would have ordered, and would have made my locket complete (for now!) is the “mama” plate. I think it would really wrap up my locket, so if you do order yourself one, think about adding that piece on to your order too!

She {hearts} BINSI

logo
Hi Res Prima CoverSometime in the next 4 weeks, I will be giving birth to our fourth child.  This is a special, anticipated, and somewhat scary time!  One of the things that I would like to try this time, is staying out of the bed.  I tend to have very fast, intense labours, and once I get in the bed, I can’t get out again.  Along with being free to move around, I was also looking for some type of clothing that would be comfortable, yet still accessible for birth.  Let’s face it… those hospital gowns are pretty terrible!

BINSI contacted me to see if I would like to try one of their birthing skirts, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with it!  I was sent the PrimaMama Skirt in Eclipse.    This skirt is surprisingly modest, which is something that some women are concerned with, even during birth.  It’s comfortable, breathable, and lightweight.

The features of this skirt are what really make it stand out as a great birthing skirt.  From the front snaps that go the whole length of the skirt, to the drawstring waist, to the side slits for maximum movement, the details were well thought out.  I am excited to give this skirt a go in the next few weeks!

BINSI was started by Carri Grimditch, a certified Doula and Mom, in 2005.  She was expecting her second baby and knew she wanted to feel more comfortable and confident.  She realized that less stress makes labour easier to handle.  By designing a skirt that works for both Doctors/Midwives, as well as mothers, she really has accomplished her goal or helping mommies-to-be feel confident during birth.

{heart} It

  • BINSI offers several styles and colours of birth skirts, as well as tops that are fully accessible to medical equipment if need be.
  • Each skirt also comes with a set of 8 blessing beads that you can add onto the drawstring of your skirt.
  • BINSI products are proudly made in the USA.

BINSI would love to giveaway a Basic BINSI Skirt to one lucky reader!  Please use the Rafflecopter form below to enter.  Open to residents of the US, Canada, and Australia.

She {hearts} Comparing Stella & Dot and Forever 21

I love buying fashion jewelry, and I consider it to be one of the best ways to update your “wardrobe” each season with the latest trends!  Of course for trendy accessories, it’s always a good idea to shop around so you don’t spend a lot.  It’s worth investing in classic pieces, but for “of the moment” pieces, it’s best to spend less!

I thought it might be fun to compare some pieces from Stella and Dot (great style!) and Forever 21 (great prices!).  Not everything is a “perfect match,” but I think you’ll find the comparison fun!

She {hearts} Yellow Bird Project

Yellow Bird Project LogoYou know those fun graphic T’s you often find. The type that have random drawings on them, of old school coke products or goofy vintage? I will be the 1st to admit I like them :) – although sometimes they can be a bit over done. To me its always nice to have one or two in your closet to mix in with your wardrobe and they almost always work for men and women, boy/girl. Its just versatile and who doesn’t like a bit of art that pops.

Well what if you took the artistic touch of some of those great T’s and put them to more use than some big national “brand.” How about using those T-shirts to help out a variety of charities but also spread the word about some great artist out there.

The Yellow Bird Project is a Montreal-based organization. They work with an amazing range of indie rock musicians to create unique t-shirt designs that benefit an array of charities, each chosen by the musicians.

I got one of their graphic hoodies and love it. It is super soft and comfortable. The pop of art on the front is very fun and unique as well. Very much a “Drea” piece.

They offer not only a great variety of t-shirts but also hoodies, buttons, books and more. All of which support the charities. So if you are looking for a fun new T, yet want to do more than just “buy something” – check out the line of great t-shirts and more at the Yellow Bird Project.

She {hearts} Lilla Rose

IMG_7753

This summer I discovered a hair accessory that I thought was gorgeous and also really practical.  Lilla Rose sells something called a Flexi Clip, which can be used for a variety of hair styles and in pretty much every hair type.  I have incredibly fine thin hair that is very slippery, and I can easily use the Flexi.

Lilla Rose is an independent sales company, so anyone can sign up to sell their products.  I got in touch with Anjanette Barr through YouTube I believe, and was able to place an order earlier in summer.  She recently sent a beautiful Pink Fairy Flexi for my oldest daughter to try.  Bria loves it!  I have to work a little more to get it to stay in her hair, as it’s even more slippery than mine, but it looks so cute on her!

Flexi clips are made with piano wire, beads, and a pin made of zinc.  They are incredibly durable, so you won’t be replacing them over and over again.  All pieces are attached to each other as well, which makes it easy to keep track of.

Lilla Rose has some great videos on their website that help with figuring out sizing.

Lilla Rose also offers gorgeous Head Bands, O-Rings, Hair Sticks, Bobby Pins, and You-Pins.

Cute, unique, beautifully handmade hair accessories? Yes, please. Add in an upcycled, eco-friendly twist? I present to you: Piccadilly Rose.

Piccadilly Rose is an adorable shop featuring handmade hair accessories made from upcycled/recycled fabric, buttons, and materials. These are also the perfect hair accessories for little girls!

I was fortunate enough to attend Piccadilly Rose‘s launch party a few months ago and was able to see and try on many unique pieces. I was so impressed by the quality of the pieces and wanted to scoop them all up and take them home! I couldn’t go home without one of the gorgeous headbands, so I picked the one in the following photo. My three year old daughter was also delighted by the headband, and it easily fits her little head, too! My friends are also rocking PR headbands!
