She {hearts} Urban Baby Bonnets (Giveaway)

iusb_760x100.9451360_2k3n

July 2014 029Summertime brings with it loads of sunshine and blue skies.  While I was looking for a fashionable way to keep Holland’s head covered this summer, I came across Urban Baby Bonnets, a great Etsy shop run by Colette.

Urban Baby Bonnets are so stinkin’ cute with completely reversible prints.  They have the perfect sized brim to shade baby faces from the sun.  I actually tried another similar style bonnet while waiting for the Urban Baby Bonnet, and it just doesn’t cover as well.

The adjustable snaps on the chin strap are genius!  Holland is at the age where she will try to pull hats off and can easily untie a string.  Snaps keep her hat in place, and are also adjustable as she grows.

One cannot help but notice the care that goes into making these hats.  Every stitch and seam is perfectly done.  The quality far exceeds what can be found in the average store.

she {hearts} mirabelle lane

I have been searching for a sweet and unique blanket for Guinnyth.  I wanted something that was different than the blankets I see at the big box stores, and something that she could cling to when we were sleeping at different places.  When I went searching, I came across an adorable shop, Mirabelle Lane.  I love the fabrics Laura, Mirabelle Lane owner, put together for her blankets and burp cloths.  She has some vintage inspired patterns along with some ultra modern pieces.

mirabelle lane collageWhen we received our blanket, Guinnyth instantly took to it and started rubbing the soft, minky material.  It has been in her crib with her ever since!  I love that they are the perfect size for a little one.  They aren’t too big, so there is no fear of the baby getting tangled in it.  They are the perfect size to hold on to and snuggle with.

mirabelle lane snuggle blanketMirabelle Lane also offers other sweet items for your little one.  There are burp cloths, wash rags, binky clips, and hair clips.

She {hearts} Creating Frugal Home Decor

new_0456Being frugal doesn’t exactly make decorating easy, but it can be very rewarding. It just takes some creativity and time.

before_0748

I’ve known I wanted new bedding for a couple years now, but I never came across anything I loved more than what I already had. Recently though, we took the plunge and purchased a king size mattress/box springs {still saving for the bed frame} but for now, it’s just fine on the floor. So, I had to get new bedding.

after_0446

I’ve always loved white. It’s a happy clean color. I thought maybe if it’s in the bedroom {and not even remotely close to where the kids eat} we’ll be okay. So far, so good.

 1. my DIY revamped lamps here

2. pillow covers made out of plain white pillow cases using the envelope technique {super easy} here

  • for the leather details on the pillows, I used re-purposed leather {old skirt, thrifted}
  • glued black velcro on the leather, then cut out triangles, and found a ‘stache {clip art} online to use as a stencil
  • sewed the white {opposite} velcro on the pillow, this way, I can wash {and bleach} the pillow cases when needed
  • they don’t look bright white because I covered some dark blue pillows I already had {for now; eventually I’ll get some white pillows… IKEA isn’t as close as it used to be, sigh}

3. coffee filter wreath via none other than Martha Stewart here

4. old used canvas found at thrift store {may have been a painting of a sunset}

  • I painted over it {sorry, artist that painted it back in the 80′s, it was time}
  • then hubby spray painted the numbers/letter using black spray paint, and number stencils found at hardware store {of course your numbers will mean something to you}

5. old frame/chicken wire, stapled on back

I’m sure I’ll get tired of my hipster pillows and add something different to them before too long, but for now I love them!

She {hearts} RUND baby

If you’re a mom, a grandmother, or someone who cares for little ones on a regular basis, you’re going to want this product as soon as you see it.  I fell in love with it at first sight!anywherechair

Introducing… the Anywhere Chair from RUND baby!  This “chair” (actually a uniquely shaped piece of fabric) simply fastens onto a normal chair to create a highchair for your baby or toddler anytime and anywhere you need it!  Genius, I’m telling you.  And what else would you expect from a talented mompreneur?  Melissa of RUND baby is a mom of three and manages this Etsy business from her home, creating products that are innovative and beautiful.  (Not a mom? Check out her tote bags and cash envelope systems!)rund_baby_toddlers

I tried out the Anywhere Chair with my 1 year old and my 2.5 year old, and it worked perfectly for either of them!  My 2.5 year old actually begged to be put back in it again after we took photos.  The hook and loop fastening in the back was strong enough to keep my lunging 1 year old from unfastening it, and the whole system was easy enough to quickly secure my very wiggly 2.5 year old.  The entire chair folds up neatly and can be shoved in a diaper bag or kept in the car.  It is machine washable and is made with beautiful designer fabrics!  (My print is called “Windy Day,” in case you’re wondering.)rund_baby_detail

This would make a great gift … but I know you want to buy one for yourself too!  Fortunately, we also have a giveaway today (yay!).

Visit RUND Baby and pick out a beautiful handmade Anywhere Chair of your own (available in TONS of designer fabric choices) for just $35!

Melissa at RUND Baby is giving away an Anywhere Chair to one lucky She {hearts} It reader in any fabric currently available in her shop ($35 value)!

She {hearts} MiMi’s Soda Shoppe

customized name plaques

customized name plaques

A few years ago, a sweet friend of mine Aliesha, her mother Valerie, gifted me with one of the most precious gifts. She custom made me name matted prints, framed with my boys names in them. At the time she created them for my 1st three children. I loved them! I told her if we ever had any more kids she would have to make us more.

A few weeks before Reed was born, she sent me another….

_MG_1177
I loved seeing my baby’s name on the print… knowing that in a few short weeks I would be meeting him. It was a precious gift to get before he was born. I cannot wait to move into our new home and set up a wall with all my boys photographs framed and these prints proudly shining.

I love the effort she puts into making them but also how personal they are to us. With our prints I never even gave her scripture… she found pieces of scripture though that just went perfect with the meanings of each one of my boys names. I loved that!

If you are looking for a perfect keep sake for your children, this is it. Mimi’s Soda Shoppe like I mentioned above is owned by my friend Aliesha’s mom, Valerie. She not only home schooled all 3 of her children. She is also incredibly talented in so many areas and this is one of them. If you have a friend who is due to have a baby, this would be an amazing shower gift… and one that I know they will absolutely love.
